Building, Renovating, Growing.

Since the University’s inception in 1871 to its stature today as a premier comprehensive institution, quality and innovative higher education have been hallmarks of UW Oshkosh’s success. In the early years, the Oshkosh State Normal School was Wisconsin’s foremost institution for educating teachers and the first such school in the nation to have a kindergarten. And in its centennial year of 1971, the institution merged into the Wisconsin system and became the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

UW Oshkosh’s academic excellence continues to gain recognition as innovative programs, institutes and degrees kept the curriculum relevant, while building expansions, renovations and additions support the institution’s continued growth.

But Titans do not live in the past.

Today, UW Oshkosh proudly serves the region as the third-largest university in Wisconsin with an annual on- and off-campus enrollment of nearly 15,000. At UW Oshkosh we recruit the best, most deserving students and prepare them to thrive in a competitive global economy. More than 70 percent of our students rely on financial assistance to pursue their education.

Scholarships enable UW Oshkosh colleges, departments and programs to assist students with tuition and other college expenses. Scholarships help attract the best students to UW Oshkosh and assist those in need of additional financial support. While at UW Oshkosh, these students develop knowledge and skills that lead to careers and futures they might never have had.

How Alumni can help

By becoming a founding member of the 1871 Society, alumni can help bring critical scholarship resources to meet the needs of our students today and tomorrow. Your three-year commitment of $1,871 annually, ensures that students facing obstacles that put them at risk of dropping out prior to graduating can persist – gain their degree – and enter our workforce prepared.

And having a consistent pool of resources also helps the UWO Admission and Financial Aid staff proactively reach the most promising potential students and retain the most deserving with the assistance they need to enroll or remain focused on securing their future.
